In February and March we hosted regular meetings to familiarize high school and unviersity students with the culture and style of debate in the Model UN system. Meetings are conducted in English and are held at Centre for International Debate in Wrocław (Regionalny Ośrodek Debaty Miedzynarodowej we Wroclawiu).
Each meeting is split was two; in the first part we taught about the techniques of public speaking and negotiation, constructive management of conflict in the committee, research for Model UN, as well as the structure of the actual UN system. This was either in the seminar or workshop form. The second part was purely practical: a moderated debate in a semi-Model UN style - each participant was assigned a country and they're expected to 'get in the role' of the country's ambassador while discussing and trying to reach solutions of the issue. The working language of our meetings was English.
During our past meetings we've discussed the following issues: Legalisation of prostitution (4.02), Church and State (19.02, 25.02) and Positive Discrimination (05.03).
